After the player has lost eight extra lives inside a level during the single player mode, a Super Guide Block will appear at the beginning of the same level. The Super Guide mode previously appeared in the game New Super Mario Bros.The player does not earn points for clearing a level in this mode. The mode allows the player to skip levels, and it can be activated after they have lost eight extra lives in the same level.
